DESIGN WITHOUT BORDERS
FOR A HEALTHIER, HAPPIER AND MORE INCLUSIVE WORLD
An interdisciplinary approach.
Design as the glue.
The growing complexity of global challenges—spanning health, wellbeing, and social inclusion—demands interdisciplinary approaches. Increasingly, both academia and industry recognize that single-discipline solutions fall short, and are adopting collaborative frameworks to innovate more holistically. Design stands out in these interdisciplinary teams, bringing vital approaches, methods and tools for fostering creativity and effective collaboration. Through a unique capacity to bridge gaps, design strengthens interdisciplinary efforts, making it indispensable in the pursuit of a healthier, happier and more inclusive future. In this context, having designers with experience across multiple disciplines is essential.
My interdisciplinary path
2023 - now
Medical & Clinical Psychology
Tilburg University (AP)
I work in an interdisciplinary team (of psychologists, engineers, computer scientists, philosophers, social scientists, economists, and lawyers) to understand/develop/evaluate digital interventions for health and well-being and reflect on how we co-create with various stakeholders.
2017 - 2023
Design research
TU Delft (PhD)
TU Eindhoven (Postdoc)
I learned, practised, and reflected on participatory design and mixed methods during my PhD and Postdoc. I worked with nursing homes, tech startups, NGOs, and researchers from the fields of urban design, ergonomics, geriatrics, public health and information technology.
2012 - 2017
Biomedical engineering
Imperial College London (MEng)
During my Bachelor’s and Master’s, I collaborated with students from various science and engineering fields, where I also learned about design as a discipline. My industrial placement at GSK (2015–2016) further showed me design's practical impact, sparking my decision to pursue a degree in design.
